Interpersonal relationships, dreams, and the connection with nature - through an abstract approach, the film "The Daily Doogin" attempts to combine these themes in a dynamic and experimental film, thus expanding the boundaries of the traditional ski film.
Hokkaido, a well-known destination for freeriders, serves as the backdrop. Amidst Western tourism, Franz Dengg, Pirmin Douglosch, and Joshua Braun find their playground away from the hustle and bustle, allowing them the tranquility and time to reflect on themselves, nature, and their fellow human beings.
Without imposing the theme of Japan on the film, the local culture is addressed. The poetic concept of Haikus and Tankas, an ancient Japanese form of poetry, supports the story with appropriate excursions into poetics.
Driven not only by profound content meant to provoke the viewer's contemplation but also by progressive skiing, abstract representations, and creative editing techniques, a unique visual aesthetic emerges that captures the emotions and spirit of skiing.
